A2C/Power Cross Baseball Camp
Statesville, NC was the site of a fundamental-filled three day baseball camp for between 40 and 50 young men this past July. Athletes to Champions worked with Power Cross to provide a challenging, instructional and Christian-based baseball camp for boys ages 8 to 13.
Instructors for the camp included CJ Stewart, former professional baseball player with the Chicago Cubs, scout with the Cincinnati Reds organization, and professional trainer. Joining CJ was Carl Parker, past NFL Player and high school coach, Kyle Parker, two sport standout (All ACC Baseball and football scholarship player) from Clemson University, and Hunter Scantling, Florida State University pitcher.
Jeff (and Natalie) Storment, Power Cross’ Founder said the camp was a life-changing event for the boys. Jeff added a parent told him his son had never had a week like this in his life! Carl Parker was quoted as saying, “We are just trying to make a difference in their lives and it’s a great group of people. We have explained to them some things about character development and helped them with the game of baseball.” (Clemson.Scout.Com/2/770499.HTML Robert Throne CUTigers.com, Giving Back.)
We were also told several parents gave great praise for the on and off field instruction and character building the camp encouraged. In addition, a big thank you went out to Under Armour for their generous donation to the camp. Their donation gave the young men some great-looking baseball gear, and moreover something to remember the camp by.
